What Training Do Plumbers Complete?

Plumbing can be a scary thing. One moment of carelessness by a plumber, or a lack of training, can cause a large amount of damage in your Waterford, MI home or business. The best way to protect yourself is by dealing with a family-owned business that has been serving the people of Oakland County, Michigan since 1929.

Licensing

Kotz Heating, Cooling & Plumbing can assure you every one of our plumbers has gone through a challenging and comprehensive process to receive a plumbing license or is working with a licensed plumber to learn the craft. Trust us on this, it’s not like getting your driver’s license when you turn 16 years old.

Experience Comes First

You can’t just walk into a “plumbing classroom” and take a test. A person needs to have many hours of on-the-job plumbing maintenance experience. The hours working with another experienced plumber must be documented by an employer. Then AND only then can a person even submit an application to take the test.

Learn The Codes

During this time frame, the apprentice plumber must learn all local and state plumbing codes. The codes are designed to promote safe plumbing practices to protect clients and their homes. The training process also entails learning about what type of materials are appropriate for each job and learning to use the tools of the trade for most common plumbing tasks.

It’s More Than Nuts & Bolts

A person can know a lot about plumbing but may not be a good plumber if he or she can’t communicate with and relate to you, the home or business owner. It’s a big reason why Kotz goes to another level of training with our own in-house trainer John Wenner. He takes the training well beyond sinks, toilets, and faucets saying, “Through training and teaching professionalism is elevated.” Wenner adds, “This helps the plumber or technician to ask the right questions to help solve the homeowner’s problem.”

“When the person in your home has increased communication skills, it means being more able to understand what’s going on in a home,” said Wenner. He believes this makes the whole evaluation process much more efficient.

The result for the client is a worry-free experience. Whatever your plumbing needs, from a simple repair to a major remodeling job, Kotz Heating, Cooling & Plumbing has the licensed plumbers who are able to do the job. Be sure to like and follow us on Facebook and Twitter to learn more.
