Seriously, uneven heating and cooling is one of the most common problems we encounter. There can be many reasons why it happens. Some can be fixed easily. Others not so much. In many cases, the best and most economical solution is the addition of supplemental heating and cooling with one or more ductless mini-split heat pumps. You might have heard them referred to as mini split air conditioners, but they work just like a traditional air source heat pump so they can provide supplemental heating as well. Here’s why we are such a big fan of this technology. Because they are ductless, the installation of mini-split systems is easy and affordable. They use the latest in efficient heat pump technology, meaning they use less electricity. There is added efficiency because there is no loss of conditioned air as it moves through ductwork.

But here is what you really care about. The indoor air handler can be installed in the room or area of the home where the problem exists. The cooled or heated air is delivered directly to the location of the hot or cold spot. Multiple air handlers (4 is usually the maximum) can be connected to a single outside compressor. Each air handler has its own thermostat for the ultimate in custom temperature control.

In the case of new construction or major remodels, ductless mini split systems are the perfect companion to radiant heat. You are able to heat and cool your home without the installation of expensive and hard to maintain HVAC ductwork.
